At the door
ID Checks at Elements Casino Victoria
Coming out to View Royal by bus or by bike changes nothing once you reach the casino door. Everyone shows photo ID there, so it goes in your bag before the bus pass does.

Scanned on the way in
In British Columbia, 19 is the legal gambling age, casinos included. Anyone walking into a B.C. casino has had to present government-issued photo ID since June 26, 2023. Neither age nor frequency of visits changes that. Keep the card within easy reach rather than under rain gear.
Security scans the card and compares it with the list of people barred from entry. One example is anyone enrolled in Game Break, BCLC's voluntary self-exclusion program. For those admitted, the system keeps no personal information.
A second card for events
The Platinum Room serves as the casino's event space: it has a stage and holds 20 to 500 people. Check casinovictoria.ca/events for shows and events before planning the trip out. Anyone attending an event must be at least 19 and carry government-issued photo ID. Guests aged 19 to 25 should also bring one more valid piece of ID. Both cards fit in the zip pocket of a rain jacket, right beside a bus pass.
Cards that count
- A B.C. driver's licence, or a driver's licence from elsewhere in North America.
- The B.C. Identity Card (BCID) or the B.C. Services Card.
- A passport, Canadian or international.
- A Canadian citizenship card or a permanent resident card.
- A Secure Certificate of Indian Status card, a membership card issued by a First Nations, Metis or Inuit band, or government-issued foreign ID.
Asked on the way out
If you are well past 19, do you still need photo ID?
Yes, every person entering a B.C. casino shows government-issued photo ID, whatever their age.
Visiting from overseas, which ID works at the door?
A Canadian or international passport is accepted. So is government-issued foreign ID, and a North American driver's licence counts too.
Does the casino keep a record of the scan?
The ID is scanned by security and compared with the list of people restricted from entering. Personal information is not stored by the system for those who are admitted.
